It is impossible to plan a visit to this amazing icon unless you know the Horizontal Falls Neap Tides in detail.
If you're planning a visit to Horizontal Falls, understanding neap tides is important.
The famous Horizontal Falls phenomenon is powered entirely by Kimberley tides. When tidal movements are large, enormous volumes of water are forced through the narrow gaps of the McLarty Ranges, creating the spectacular rushing currents visitors travel from around the world to see.
However, not all tides are equal.
During neap tides, the difference between high and low tide becomes much smaller, resulting in reduced water flow through the falls. This can affect tour operations, boat ride experiences and even tour availability.
For this reason, many Horizontal Falls tours are scheduled around stronger tidal periods rather than during neap tides.
