KIMBERLEY CRUISE ITINERARIES

Explore Kimberley cruise routes and itineraries between Broome and Darwin. Discover key destinations including Montgomery Reef, King George Falls, Horizontal Falls and Prince Regent River.

One of the most common questions we receive is always about Kimberley Cruise Itineraries:

"Where do Kimberley cruises actually go?"

The answer depends on the itinerary, cruise line and duration, but most Kimberley expedition cruises travel between Broome and Darwin, exploring one of the world's most remote and spectacular coastlines along the way.

From the towering cliffs of King George Falls to the tidal wonders of Montgomery Reef and the wilderness of Prince Regent River, every itinerary is built around the Kimberley's most iconic destinations.

This guide explains the main Kimberley cruise routes, what you can expect to see, and how to choose the itinerary that best suits your interests.

KIMBERLEY CRUISE ITINERARY OVERVIEW

A snapshot view of where we cruise

The Kimberley coastline stretches for more than 13,000 kilometres and contains thousands of islands, bays, rivers and untouched wilderness areas.

There are no "big ships" in the Kimberley, which is why Kimberley cruise vessels fall into two distinct categories:

  • Charter Boats
  • Small Expedition Ships.

The size of each vessel plays a major role in where it can cruise and for how long.  It has a huge bearing on the itineraries.

With the Kimberley coast being so remote, there are limited ports for vessels to restock and refuel, not to mention pick up and drop off passengers. As a result, the expedition ships have no option but to operate between:

Broome and Dawin or Darwin to Broome

Both routes visit similar destinations, with the primary difference being the direction of travel.

Typical voyages last:

  • 10 nights, or
  • 11 nights

Some longer itineraries may also include:

  • Ashmore Reef
  • Rowley Shoals
  • Western Australian coastline extensions
