Frequently Asked Questions - Travelmarvel Kimberley Cruises

Travelmarvel charters the Heritage Adventurer, a purpose-built expedition ship that carries around 140 guests. With its strengthened hull, fleet of Zodiacs, and expert crew, it’s perfectly suited for exploring the Kimberley’s rugged and remote coastline.

All itineraries are 10 days and 9 nights, sailing one-way between Broome and Darwin (or reverse). This ensures you see the very best highlights of the Kimberley coast without feeling rushed.

Travelmarvel cruises are all-inclusive. You’ll enjoy:

  • Accommodation aboard Heritage Adventurer

  • Daily Zodiac excursions led by the expedition team

  • All meals and onboard drinks with lunch and dinner

  • Airport transfers, port charges, and national park fees

  • The services of a Travelmarvel Cruise Director and local guides

Highlights include:

  • Horizontal Falls – one of the world’s greatest tidal phenomena

  • Montgomery Reef – a living reef that emerges dramatically with the tide

  • King George Falls – the tallest twin waterfalls in Western Australia

  • Ancient Aboriginal rock art sites, including Gwion Gwion (Bradshaw) and Wandjina figures

  • Wildlife such as saltwater crocodiles, dolphins, turtles, and birdlife

Most excursions are conducted by Zodiac expedition boats, allowing close access to gorges, waterfalls, reefs, and beaches. Guests may also enjoy guided walks and cultural experiences ashore, depending on the location and conditions.

The ship offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with spacious ocean-view cabins, a main restaurant and casual dining options, observation decks, lounges, and lecture spaces. After a day of adventure, guests can unwind with comfortable amenities while enjoying Travelmarvel’s signature service.

The Kimberley cruise season runs during the dry season (May to September). This is when waterfalls are at their most spectacular after the wet, wildlife is abundant, and the weather is warm and clear.

A moderate level of mobility is recommended. Getting in and out of Zodiacs requires some balance and agility, and there may be short walks over uneven terrain. Travelmarvel provides guidance to ensure excursions are manageable for most guests.

Lightweight, breathable clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, reef shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent are essentials. Binoculars and a good camera are highly recommended to capture the Kimberley’s scenery and wildlife.
